All Senate job creation proposals survive 1st funnel

The Senate remains focused on job creation.  All seven job creation measures introduced so far by Senate Democrats survived the first legislative funnel. 

Status Proposal
SAFE from Funnel Ed Jobs  (Senate File 202)
Approved by Senate Education Committee Takes a successful community college pilot program statewide.  Working Iowans receive help and financial aid so they can improve their skills by earning recognized industry certificates.   Helps Iowans and helps Iowa businesses with skill shortages. ($10 million)
SAFE from Funnel Job Creation Tax Cut (Senate File 209)
Passed by Senate, amended and passed by the House Tax cut to help 240,000 Iowa households earning less than $45,000 and to boost local economies.  Immediate 100% tax deduction for business investment in Iowa (autos, machinery, property) to help small businesses and others.   Other measures to put money in the pockets of Iowans ($199 million)
SAFE from Funnel Small Business Health Care Credit (Senate File 248)
Ways and Means  Committee legislation is safe from the funnel This is a refundable credit on the employee health care expenses of businesses with 10 or fewer employees.  Small businesses an average of 18% more for employee health insurance than large corporations for the same coverage. ($8.2 million)
SAFE from Funnel Save Our Small Business Fund  (Senate File 301)
Passed by Senate Economic Growth Committee, referred to Appropriations Expand eligibility and make first six months interest-free for low-interest loans to businesses with 35 or fewer employees for job creation.
SAFE from Funnel Revitalize Business Districts (Senate File 237)      
Passed by Senate Economic Growth Committee, Referred to Ways & Means Tax credits and grants to help communities and neighboring business owners clean up abandoned industrial or commercial buildings, especially those in central business districts with state grants and tax credits.  $200,000 to Keep Iowa Beautiful; redirect $3 million in existing IDED tax credits.
SAFE from Funnel Small Solar, Small Wind (Senate File 99)
Appropriations   Committee legislation is safe from the funnel A consumer rebate for homes and businesses investing in renewable energy to jumpstart a new industry in Iowa, one that means jobs statewide for local electricians, plumbers, heating and cooling contractors and other small businesses.
 SAFE from Funnel Red Tape Commission (Senate File 179)
Passed by Senate State Government Committee Cut red tape and improve the delivery of services to small businesses with a statewide, public review of rules and regulations affecting small businesses.
